Lyceum is a not for profit, public charter school authorized and accredited by the New York State Education Department, Board of Regents (NYSED). That means we receive NYS and Federal funding and are subject to public regulations. We are governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of community leaders.
No. As a public charter school we are tuition-free and there are no application fees.
We are a public charter school which means that families who are eligible to attend NYC DOE schools (all boroughs) are eligible to attend our school. Any family with a child entering kindergarten or 1st grade may apply.
Dual Immersion is an approach that teaches content in two languages (English + Target Language). In our school, instruction is developed by teacher-teams so that students learn all subjects in both languages (English-Spanish or English-Mandarin) through a seamless language rotation. Lyceum’s Dual Immersion approach helps students of all backgrounds, academic and language abilities learn content and language.

We are currently offering Kindergarten and First Grade. Lyceum will grow to serve K-5.
Lyceum has an extended day schedule. Our school day begins at 8am and ends at 4:30pm daily. Doors open early for breakfast!
Lyceum will be located in CSD 6, at 421 W. 145th Street, New York, NY 10031.
Student Transportation is available to families who qualify through NYC DOE Office of Pupil Transportation. Eligibility is determined based on grade level and distance between home and school. Students mandated to receive transportation on their IEPs are eligible for door-to-door busing. The school can easily be reached by public transportation, Trains: A/C, B/D & 1 trains and Busses: M3, M4, M5, M100, M101 & Bx19.
YES, and they are most welcome! The teachers at Lyceum deliver instruction in all subjects in both English and the Target Language (Spanish or Mandarin). This means your child will learn Math, Science, Language Arts and Social Studies while learning a new language.
By having conversations with your child about their school day and discussing what they learned. Also, by reading to them, every night, in the language you speak. Family reading time (in any language) will help build the foundation for reading that will be reinforced in all language classrooms. We will also host family nights to share strategies aligned to our curriculum so everyone is involved in your child’s learning. Please remember that you can contact your child’s teacher for assistance!
YES they will! Lyceum’s Dual Immersion Program ensures that every student, regardless of language ability is taught all subjects in both English and the Target Language (Spanish or Mandarin) using strategies to support language acquisition in both languages. Our teachers are also trained to provide small group interventions to students who need extra support. Your child will not fall behind!
Yes we do and welcome! The Faculty and Staff at Lyceum wholeheartedly believe in inclusion and best practices to educate all children. We will provide services and programs as mandated by your child’s IEP or determined by the CSE.
Yes! At Lyceum we educate the whole child and cater to the curious and active nature of children. We have a social justice component to our curriculum to promote cultural competency, civic awareness and dignity for all. Movement and physical activity are a big part of our mission. In addition to recess, all students have gym daily.
Yes. In order to help build our school culture for learning and daily routines, students at Lyceum will wear uniforms that are both comfortable and affordable. If the cost of uniforms is a concern, please let us know and we will help.
